This book helps clarify why the answers to our prayers may be delayed and gives practical advice for walking in faith and hope until God's release comes. If we are to mature into greater dimensions of kingdom fruitfulness, then we must commit ourselves to understanding how God uses delay to refine His chosen ones. Intensely passionate and practical, this book is written from the crucible of the author's own personal crisis of delayed answers. This is not a book of platitudes but of powerful insights that have come through the fire. May your heart be enlarged and your faith expanded as you consider the great blessings extended to those who wait in God alone.
The sequel to The Fire of Delayed Answers, The Fire of God's Love contains devotional meditations upon the most glorious theme of all Scripture - the love of God. Sorge explores how God is igniting the Church in this hour with His fiery love. Emerging from the crucible of God's fiery dealings is a Church who has been purified of all other affections but one - her desire for her Beloved, the Lord Jesus. Look into this furnace of God's love at your own risk as it's a fire that consumes all but love. Take the time to come to the passion blazing on the cross; let that love purge you of every defiling desire. Above all, listen as the Lord Jesus draws you into an intense love relationship that outshines the brightest sunrise. He intends to capture and possess every part of your being by revealing to you the fire of His love.
To the unstudied eye, Matthew's gospel can seem a terse narrative, almost a historical document and not the tremendously spiritual (and doctrinal) storehouse that it is. Erasmo Leiva here acts as our guide, showing Matthew's prose to be not terse so much as economical--astoundingly so given its depth. The lay reader can derive great profit from reading this. Each short meditation comments on a verse or two, pointing to some facet of the text not immediately apparent. Leiva's work is scholarly but eminently approachable by the non-technical reader. The tone is very much gustate et videte, quoniam suavis est Dominus [taste and see how good the Lord is]-as it is "friend, come up higher!". The goal of the book is to help the reader experience the heat of the divine heart/the light of the divine Word. Leiva points to Matthew's gospel as being deeply ecclesial because it is first Christological. He comments on the Greek text, demonstrating to the reader nuances in the text that defy translation into English without serious revision of the text. Leiva uses linguistic analysis to aid the non-Greek reader with the literal meaning of the text; numerous quotes from the Fathers and the liturgy of the church demonstrate the way the Tradition has lived and read the Word of God. His theological reflection vivifies doctrine by seeking its roots in the words and actions of Jesus. Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis obtained his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Theology from Emory University. Presently he is a Professor of Literature and Theology at the University of San Francisco.

Tony Evans leads readers on a journey through the eyes of the disciples, revealing how God's gift of the Holy Spirit turned them from quivering cowards into bold martyrs who built His church and changed the world. In the same way, the unchanging power of the Spirit can ignite a fire in readers' lives today-transforming them from sleepwalkers into wide-awake witnesses for Him. Dr. Evans shows how the power of the Spirit brings wisdom, freedom, and joy to the Christian-as well as glory to God's kingdom-and how holy habits can keep readers plugged in to the eternal source of spiritual power.
This book is the fruit of Fr. Dubay's many years of study and experience in spiritual direction and in it he synthesizes the teachings on prayer of the two great doctors of the Church on prayer--St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila--and the teaching of Sacred Scripture. But the teaching that Fr. Dubay synthesized is not collected from Teresa and John for contemplatives alone. It is meant for every Christian and is based on the Gospel imperative of personal prayer and the call to holiness. All the major elements of these great teachers are ordered, commented on and put in the context of their scriptural foundations. Here is an outstanding book on prayer and the spiritual life written by one of the best spiritual directors and retreat masters of our time, and based on the writings of the Church's two greatest mystical doctors. "This book is a gold mine for any Christian intent on making progress in prayer. Any reader who appreciates the relevance of the spiritual in these troubled times will find Fire Within difficult to put down. A work of art by a master of the spiritual life." -- Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R.
From the Israeli exodus from Egypt to the Book of Revelation, God is characterized in Scripture as fire, ablaze with His own glory. God uses images of fire to describe His Word, His passion for His people and even the end of the age.But only now, in these last days, are God's people beginning to fully understand God's blazing glory--in the form of His bride, the church. In "FireBride", author Margaret Morgan Moberly revelas prophetically the burning image of God through the church. She shows how you, a Spirit-filled believer, are to respond in prayer and intercession. With biblical insight and her own experience ministering the Word, Margaret answers your questions about the consuming fire of God: * What does it mean to be baptized by fire? * Why did God use flaming tongues of fire on Pentecost? * Who is the FireBride? * Why were sacrifices in the Old Testament made with fire? * How will the next move of God involve the FireBride? * What's the difference between the fir of God and the fire of the devil? * How do we arm ourselves with God's fiery armor?
