Truths We Confess 1

Truths We Confess 1

Theologically rich and biblically precise, the Westminster Confession has set the doctrinal standards for many churches for more than three centuries. Now renowned scholar Sproul makes this foundational creed more accessible to laypeople. In the first of three volumes, his clear explanations illuminate doctrines concerning the Bible, God, sin, Christ as mediator, and more.
Truthseeker

Truthseeker

Truthseeker was written to challenge you. The challenge is for each of us to go inward and walk the journey of a truthseeker. This will require us to confront our fears and walk in faith with God.The people of God are starved for stories of truth where God triumphs over evil. Many people are weary of being self-serving having discovered there is something missing in their lives and they are in search of their "sacred-self." This devotional of short stories is a humble effort to demonstrate through our life experiences, the life-changing truth of a relationship with Jesus Christ.Truthseeker's stories are about God and how His visible miracle working power changed one life. They are stories that span a spiritual journey of over fifty years, and the chronological incidents portrayed are authentic. All people are real people as seen through the eyes of the author, and all encounters with God took place exactly as they are described.Truth is always validated as truth through the experiences of each life because truth is universal. If the experiences of our lives and truth are not in harmony, then something is wrong somewhere. We either don't understand the truth, or we are not living our lives in truth. This makes us feel crazy, defective and fearful so we lose our identity, or we never even find it. We then go through life wondering who we are and why we are here. Lives without purpose and meaning turn wonderful human spirits into bitter, hopeless, despairing people. This is indeed one of the true tragedies of our time.It is the prayer of the author that each person who reads truthseeker will be encouraged to become a truthseeker. Do not be afraid, because although the journey is often painful, it is a wonderful joyous adventure!

Tulip : The Five Points Of Calvinism In The Light of Scripture

Tulip : The Five Points Of Calvinism In The Light of Scripture

TULIP is a popular acronym for the five points of Calvinism-total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints. In this classic book, these five points are concisely explained in the light of the Bible. They are also helpfully contrasted with the corresponding five points of Arminianism, which originally prompted the Calvinistic five-point statement at Dort. Formerly of Arminian persuasion, Duane Edward Spencer shares insights he gained while searching the Scriptures to "see if these things be so." He supplies snippets of church history and selections from the Westminster Confession of Faith (1648) to complement his succinct explanations of the five points. The basic beliefs of both Arminians and Calvinists, along with the Scriptures used by each to support its views, are summarized at the end of the book for quick and easy reference
